A Gift of Sharing-Goodness remains everywhere irrespective of wealth

Gift of Sharing-My experience

This story is a true incident which happened to me in the week of 14th Jul’2017 and it made me, to realize the humanity still exists in the human regardless of their wealth.

Recently I went to Chennai (State Capital of Tamilnadu) for personal work. It was a hot sunny day, around 2 pm in the afternoon, We (Me & My family members) were hungry and searching for a hotel to feed our stomach. At that juncture, there was a sound by calling us. When we crooked back, we noticed a girl may be around 11 years with dirty and shredded clothes, Un-oiled curly hairs and may not have taken a bath for long days.

By seeing her initially we thought, she may be looking for money/begging on streets. But when she approached us, we noticed, she was selling books which contain pictures of vegetables, numbers, vehicles, and others. She asked us to buy at least one book which is worth of Rs 20/- as she was hungry and don’t have money for lunch.

Initially, we thought, she was lying, just to sell her books. However, we decided to buy a book just in mind to help her. Finally, we end up buying 5 books which were all worthy of Rs.100/-.

Note: The MRP of 1 book is around Rs 30/-, nevertheless she sells for 20 only. I wonder whether we can get this kind of discount rates in any corporate stores or can we expect the corporate super markets/shops giving us free without over charging on any goods/books?

She was very happy to sell books worth of Rs 100/-. After buying 5 books, we were moving towards the hotel. Suddenly again she called us and was giving one more book as free and she resist to get the money for that book. Even though we were refusing to get that book for free, she was compelling us to keep it with us and she didn’t leave us until we accept her offer. Thus finally we accepted a free book worth of Rs 20/. She left happily with the smiling curve on her face.

After finishing our lunch, when we came out of the hotel, we noticed her again near to a roadside hotel. There was a noise of kids playing with each other. When we went near, we surprised to see her sharing the food with her siblings and feeding them with her hand.

She reminded us, even though she young by age and sells cartoon books for kids, she is big at heart. That one moment, we wondered whether we were helping her or she was offering us! It reminds us a saying i.e. “Donate part of your earnings to others, which give you a good way to your destiny”, “Money is not everything, and people should have the nature to give/feed others without any expectations”.

That moment , our eyes were filled with tears, by seeing her nature of sharing with others. We never thought she would do this.

Although, we are tied with our busy schedules and not sharing /spending time with beloved family members and not helping the people who suffer, this incident reminded me that humanity and sharing still exists.

Even though now I am back to home, still I would cherish the nature of her.Unfortunately, I forgot to take a note of her photo and name, however, I wish all the best for her good future and would like to see her in a better position with the same sharing in nature!

May God bless her with all she deserves!
