Kamuthi -a Kavinmugu to Solar City (Impact of Solar plant)

Kamuthi - a Kavinmugu (Beauty)to Solar City (Impact of Solar plant)

Recently I read a news in Theekathir, one of the daily newspapers in Tamil. The news is about, the solar city and impact happened due to the solar plant in that place.

I re-wrote the same in English thus the news will be readable and visible and reaches the various people across the society.

I was happy when I heard that world’s largest solar plant is in our town, however, after seeing the various impacts caused and happening by this plant, I am really worried. The worst part is, I am also from the same town and don’t know how to react or save our lands.

About KAMUTHI:

Image result for kamuthi imagesKAMUTHI is a Panchayat town in Ramanathapuram district in the Indian state of Tamilnadu. It’s around 90Kms from “temple city” Madurai, Tamilnadu. Our 11th president of India Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam also born in the same district.

KAMUTHI, this name came from KAvinmigu(beautiful) MUllai(greeneries) THIrunagar(place). Not sure whether our generation and the younger generation is aware of this or not. This place is located between the Western Ghats and the Bay of Bengal.

Most of the days in a year, this place more exposed to direct sunlights, which poked the nose businessman Mr. Gautam Adani to start his solar business.

Today, Kamuthi is known as Solar City in India. The Kamuthi Solar power project is World’s largest solar photovoltaic power plant at a single location.

History:

Kamuthi Taluk is situated in the vicinity of the town of Aruppukkottai, Mudukulathur, Sayalkudi, and this whole earth is classified as “Dry land” by the state of Tamil Nadu.

These people have been convinced that there is nothing else except the drought. Dry, dry, mesquite tree. But Adani group could visualize the benefits for their business in depth from this area and by driving towards that they earned thousands of crores of rupees in a year, however, the people who have lost their lands are dying out of their mouths.

In reality, the kamuthi was not a dry earth. Its history is rich and once upon a time, it was full of greeneries. During the winter season, it used to receive a good amount rain and farmers used to cultivate various cereals. This is mentioned in one of the old Tamil literature named “Pathinen Keelkanakku” of around 4th century.

KUNDARU RIVER

The reason for this, prosperity flow of river called “Kundaru” here. But it is now dried up. This picture shows the current river status. This river starts from the Western Ghats and flows through various parts of Madurai and Virudhunagar districts and making them a fertile lands as well. Since there is no rainfall nowadays, people who live there forgotten this river and it’s mainly occupied by trespassers/real estate companies and they started constructing the building in this riverbed.

By knowing these facts of water level underneath the earth, this Corporate Company’s started pulling the water to clean and using as a coolant for their solar plant. To cool their around 25 lakhs solar panels they are sucking our earth water approx.20 lakhs liters.

KOTTAIMEDU
There was a full samrajyam(kingdom) of great people in the beds of this river, which starts from Sadhuragiri hills(one of the Lord siva’s holy place) of the Western Ghats and crossing across Sivarakkottai and Thirumangalam in Madurai district, Kariapatti, Tiruchulli in Virudhunagar district. The Kamuthi fortress “Kottaimedu” is standing on the banks of the Kundaru today as its eternal wall. Currently from this elevation that water goes to Adani's company. But people do not have water to drink in areas that are in the same bedroom.

About Solar Plant:
Adani's empire is much bigger than the empires that existed in India. The total amount of crops purchased in banks by the total farmers in India, are around Rs. 75,000 crores. But only one Gautam Adani has been given a loan of Rs 72,000 crore in India's banks. Gautam Adani selected Kamuthi to set up the largest solar power plant in India. The solar thermometer is more than 300 days at the right angle - at 35 degrees angle - without the slightest burning at the same time.

The heat of the sea from the east and the breeze of the mountain from the west are helping to generate the power from the solar plates.

The primary and most important industries in India today are the energy and power sector. Once our current central minister who is treasurer of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Auditor, and Consultant for the largest corporate companies became the Minister of Power, in the moment when the nuclear power generation efforts that had been active all over the world after the Fukushima nuclear accident in Japan had come to a halt.

Employers' attention turned to solar power generation during this period. He announced that he would focus on alternative energy and non-conventional energy and told that the government was ready to do any assistance.

Gautam Adani had been conducting coal-fired power plants in the North. If Adani entered the solar power sector, then the Indian lobby would be able to earn profits that could not be earned. Looking for space, Kamuthi was called by the nominally big bourgeoisie to invest in the production of solar power at the end of 2014. Following that, the Adani group met with Former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and said he was ready to start work in Tamil Nadu. The contract is ready. Nearly 5,000 acres were acquired by Ramanathapuram district in the villages of Kamuthi and Sengapadai village. 'Acquisition' means of government word. In fact, the land was seized by intimidating and giving fancy words to farmers across the rural areas.

It was fair to say that it was good to work on dry land. In the backdrop of this injustice, the Tamilnadu Ministers got paid a huge amount of money to millions and vice-versa too. The Tamil Nadu Electricity Industry was dedicated to Adani's solar power company. In February 2016, Adani Group started building a massive power plant in the name of the Kamuthi Solar Project. 8500 workers have created a very long time in eight months. Nearly 25 lakh solar panels were shipped out of overseas and around 2500 acres utilized.

Impacts:

Adani Green Energy (Tamilnadu) created the Kamuthi Solar Power plant with a total cost of Rs. 4,500 crores for 3 lakh 80 thousand pillars, construction of 27 thousand meters, 576 electrochemical, 154 transformers, and 6,000 km of electrical wires. A number of Rs 4,500 crore was not taken from Adani's pocket. This amount includes Rs 72,000 crore which was purchased by Adani’s Credit for India's public sector banks. So it was not his own money.

In 2017, Kamuthi Solar Project started its production. 648 MW of electricity generated from this project is named Kamuthi Solar's park. Five sub-stations have been set up by the government to transport the electricity to the national emitter. A 400-kilometer watt sub-station owned by Tamil Nadu Electricity Board, a division of Tamil Nadu Electricity Board, is dedicated to Adani. The Kamuthi people, Tamil Nadu and Tamil people have dedicated themselves to Adani.

The net profit of Adani Group rose by 60 percent so far in May 2017 - two months after the launch of the Kamuthi solar power plant in March 2017. Adani Group's net profit rose to Rs 221 crore this year, from Rs 130 crore in the corresponding period last year. Adani Group has earned 13 times more profit through the sale of non-Surface Energy. This means that in the current year, only Rs 14,300 crore has been recovered.

Image result for water scarcity in kamuthi image7 rupees per unit was sold to the Tamil Nadu people. This is not enough for Adani. Profits do not decrease. So, the amount of solar power generation may not even diminish. The 25 million solar panels in the sunroof manufacturing plant are supposed to be fully cleaned up to make full electricity. Other countries have specialized robotics. But they are expensive and Adani is not profitable.

25 lakhs of electric plates were washing water every day.Work must be done daily in the solar system through water pipes. Adani knows that the water is lying deep in the sand of the Kundaru and ISRO's satellites also help to do this. Adani's giant arms began to absorb the whole of Kundaru water.

The Government of Tamil Nadu has long been planning a plan to connect with rivers Kaveri and Vaigai. But it's lying down for many years without any progress. Pudukkottai, Sivagangai, Ramanathapuram and Virudhunagar district farmers are struggling with the project and farmers are keen that the four rivers of Kaveri-Vaigai- Kundaru -Vaiparu will again become kavinmigu lands.

But unfortunately, on the one hand, the Kundaru sand dungeon is being plundered. Nowadays, Adani has been able to absorb 20 million liters of water per day. These details were published the first time in Indian Express released on June 8. Before others became troublesome, the solar power officials intervened and interpreted them as an urgent haze. “The sun's plates are not washed daily; we wash once a month. That's it. Even then we did not absorb water. We ask for private contracts for water. They bring water from where they are, so we explain that we are not responsible. Without standing there, they said just 2 liters of water needed for a solar plate; 50 thousand liters are taken every day from the bore wells already built within the factory; that’s enough for us”.

The chief director of the factory, Shri Santhosh Kumar Mal, has come up with a detailed explanation of the fact that we are buying only water from the ground for cleaning once a month.

Image result for kamuthi imagesThe Indian Express's reporter rewrote: 'The sunspots set at Adani's plant are 125 feet long and 28 feet wide. Each plate is huge. The fact that a plant was washed out by the manager's administration was enough to just 2 liters, according to the same figure, 25 million plates per 2 liters = 50 lakh liters. If a month is 50 lakh liters a day is 1.67 lakh liters a day. That is 2 lakh liters per day. If so, I wrote it right; every day Adani Group absorbs about 2 lakh water. The work is given to the contractors. Contractors absorb from the roof of the fortress and Kundaru.

Strangely absorbed without any permission, without the permission of anyone. Total water is absorbed for Adani's predatory profit. The sympathetic authorities of the cordial circle have no answer. What is the worst thing that the ruler of Ramanathapuram can do with Adani's company!

But Chief of Tamilnadu Government Rural Development Hansraj Verma has answered: 'Kamuthi is a great place for non-conventional power generation. The warming from the ocean area and the breeze from the Western Ghats to the solar panels at the perfect angle in the perfect combination of the Sangamam (place of joints). The heat and the wind at night are wonderful. The source for power generation is available 24 hours a day. Such resources are free. What a wonderful thing. Yes, it's free, free to bend. All that is free for Adani in this regime!

They are sucking all the natural resource with free of cost and getting benefitted huge and enriching their business. However, the people of soil are suffering and drought and hungering for water.

This solar plant conversion may be one of the examples, who knows there are more of the same kind by handing over the natural resources to private/corporates Company.

Let us work towards to save our Natures.Jai Hind!

A Gift of Sharing-Goodness remains everywhere irrespective of wealth

Gift of Sharing-My experience This story is a true incident which happened to me in the week of 14 th Jul’2017 and it made me, to realize the humanity still exists in the human regardless of their wealth. Recently I went to Chennai (State Capital of Tamilnadu) for personal work. It was a hot sunny day, around 2 pm in the afternoon, We (Me & My family members) were hungry and searching for a hotel to feed our stomach. At that juncture, there was a sound by calling us. When we crooked back, we noticed a girl may be around 11 years with dirty and shredded clothes, Un-oiled curly hairs and may not have taken a bath for long days. By seeing her initially we thought, she may be looking for money/begging on streets. But when she approached us, we noticed, she was selling books which contain pictures of vegetables, numbers, vehicles, and others. She asked us to buy at least one book which is worth of Rs 20/- as she was hungry and don’t have money...
